Bee Motel with Hatchery

A wild bee-house provides vital missing nesting habitat for your local native bees, with a variety of nesting hole sizes and nesting materials. Wild bees come in a variety of sizes and need a nesting hole that is just the right size for them. The Natural Reeds and BeeTubes are easy to open and replace to ensure bee health.

As big as bumblebees, the large carpenter bee prefers to chew their way through solid wood boards (Xylocopa spp). Female carpenter bees can live for a few years and they are able to clean and reuse their nesting holes. The Wild Bee Motel includes two untreated Solid Wood Boards to provide nesting sites for carpenter bees, who are able to buzz-pollinate tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and cranberries.

This kit includes a Bee Cocoon Hatchery to protect your bees while they emerge from their cocoons. Our Bee Cocoon Hatchery keeps your bee cocoons safe from birds, sun, wind, and rain.

Spring mason bees and summer leafcutter bees hibernate in cocoons and it takes time for them to emerge. Bees rely on temperature and weather cues to wake from hibernation. Emerging from cocoons can take several days as the bees chew their way out of their cocoons.
