Hand-crafted in Oregon, each broom is created from locally harvested kiln dried hardwoods before they are “hand wound”, “hand stitched”, “hand finished”, and “hand carved.” Each broom is 100% hand-carved using traditional wood-carving tools and techniques with knives and chisels, and are colored with non-toxic dyes. 56” tall, 3lbs and made with organic materials.

Round Hearth Broom - 30” tall, 2 lbs. A substantial broom, it’s untrimmed shape makes it very good for uneven surfaces and deep recessed mortar joints such as stone, brick or pavers. It hangs easily on a fireplace tool rack.

Flat Hearth Broom - 30” tall, 2 lbs. The flat shape sweeps a broader area than the “besom” style, and is great for fireplaces, mortar joints of masonry (like stone), wood stoves, pavers, a shop broom or good for tent camping.

From the artists:

“Our signature carving the “Tree Spirits” or “Green Man” is an ancient carving style dating back to the middle ages in what is now known as the Swiss region. You know how sometimes when you look at a tree and it appears that there is a face or animal there? It was understood that every tree was alive (which of coarse it is) and if the face appeared to you good fortune would follow if you could capture it and bring it to your home. Many cultures from the past had such traditions. We can't guarantee the “luck” part but we've certainly never known them to do any harm.”

Founded in 1981 in the Ozark Mtns. Of Northern Arkansas, Scheumack Broom Company uses traditional tools, materials and techniques native to Appalachia and the Ozark Mountains to craft their kitchen brooms.
