Screech Owl House
The Western Screen Owl is a small species, (around the size of a standard pair of binoculars), and can be found in it’s wide-ranging habitat of woods and deserts, urban parks and residential areas. It hunts everything from crayfish to rats, bats and even worms. This box may also become home to similarly sized Kestrels or Flickers. The Owl pictured comes from a FBF customer who moved in to it’s new home in the winter of 2017!

Song - The Western Screech Owl does not actually screech. Instead, it’s song is composed of a double trill followed by bouncing ball song. Click to hear the call!
Installation - The Idea is to mount at at height that the Owls will usually fly at. Cornell recommends about 10 - 30 feet. Mount on a tree , the side of a structure or on a pole.
