Volcano Kimchi founder and fermentress
Aruna Lee creates organic, vegan, gluten-free uniquely delicious traditional Kimchi with a local flare. Join us for an evening Kimchi adventure of tasting and making Kimchi with a master of the craft.
We will start with a Kimchi Brine Cocktails and then begin to prepare a batch of napa cabbage Kimchi. Aruna will walk us through each step of the process explaining along the way the whys and wherefores as to her methods. Then we will work in small groups to prepare our own batch of kimchi to bring home. We will end with question and answers and a tasting of Volcano Kimchi's various kimchi products.

Aruna LeeVolcano Kimchi
Volcano Kimchi founder and fermentress Aruna Lee was born in South Korea, and grew up in a buddhist monastery where every meal included a variety of home-grown and locally-harvested vegetables, served in an array of vibrant and nutritious ways. Some of her earliest memories are of sneaking away to steal bites of kimchi from the assortment of crock pots that lined the temple walls. I came to San Francisco in 2001, and while San Francisco is now home, the memory of those flavors is as fresh today as it was then. This is the guiding inspiration I use in preparing each batch of Volcano Kimchi.
