Our Fairfax Backyard Farmer Barn Owl Boxes are handmade locally from Amador County CA, and are used as a form of Sustainable Winegrowing and Vineyard Management through rodent control. Barn owls consume meadow voles, gophers, rats, mice and moles, on average consuming 53 pounds of gophers per year and 3,000 rodents per family in a four month breeding cycle. While Barn Owl populations have suffered recent recline, the presence of nesting boxes can attract the birds to increase the local population and effectively reduce rodents to a manageable level. Barn Owls for rodent control provides a long-term sustainable and safe approach without reliance on poisonous pest control, which otherwise kills predator populations and increases the rodent problem.
